Artist Statement from Justine

I seek to answer questions in relation to myself. Who am I, and how does all my curiosity create myself? These range from exploring my anxiety, impulsiveness, body, and gender. I have little strands of thought about all these that lead to explorations of my mind and body. Can they all coincide with accomplishing the same goal? This is a question I am still searching for the answer to. My dancing is often a response to these thoughts in my mind, which helps connect my body’s wants to my mind’s wants. My passion is not just dancing. Writing also speaks to me, and I often connect my writing to my dancing. I use poetry to convey my thoughts on the themes listed above. There is no order on what comes first; they live in tandem together. In short, I like to express synapses of thought to satisfy my busy brain and heart.
